Chandigarh, 24 November 2016. Sikh organisations have threatened to bring Punjab to a halt, in case the government disrupted the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ scheduled for December 8 at Damdama Sahib.
The SAD (Amritsar), Akhand Akali Dal, Swatantar Akali Dal, United Akali Dal and Damdami Taksal decided this at a meeting here today.
Representatives of the organisations called upon the Sikh Sangat and non-Sikhs to participate in the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’, which they said “seeks to rid the Akali Dal, SGPC and five Takhts from the control of the Badals”.
If the government tried to disrupt the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’, we would take the fight to the streets, said Dhian Singh Mand and Baljit Singh Daduwal, “Jathedars” anointed by the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ held last year. (TNS)
