New Delhi-India, 4 May 2017. Professor Kirpal Singh Badungar, the President of apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee and Manjit Singh GK, the President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, today underwent a meeting to discuss ongoing Sikh issues.

Following the meeting, the two presidents announced to commence a movement to get the Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib rebuilt at Hardwar.

The movement will be launched from Amritsar Sahib on 14 May following recitation of Japji Sahib at Gurdwara Manji Sahib. All the Gurdwaras’ committees across the world have also been appealed to recite the Japji Sahib on May 14 in support of the movement.

On being contacted by Sikh24, DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK said that the SGPC and DSGMC were also in contact with Uttra Pradesh and Uttarakhand government to get land to rebuild Gurdwara Gyan Godri in the wake of upcoming 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

It is pertinent to note here that during fourth ‘Udaasi’, the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev Ji had taught lesson of humanity at Haridwar. Gurdwara Gian Godri Sahib was established in the memory of Guru Nanak Sahib’s valuable teachings at Har Ki Paorhi in Haridwar.

The Gurdwara was demolished while carrying out the beautification project of Ganga River.
