Chandigarh – Panjab – India, 30 August 2018. A day after the tabling of Justice Ranjit Singh’s investigation report in Punjab assembly, anti-Badal protests have erupted across Punjab. Sikh activists along with common masses were spotted staging protests in various localities on August 29 by burning the effigies of Badal clan.

It is noteworthy here that the Congress led Punjab government had tabled Justice Ranjit Singh’s investigation report in the Punjab assembly on August 28 in which Badals have been held guilty of shielding Sirsa cult disciples who had committed the sacrilege and ordering the Punjab police to open firing on peacefully protesting Sikhs at Kotkapura.

On August 29, the activists of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) headed by S Navdeep Singh Amritsar burnt an effigy at Bhandari bridge of Amritsar on which photos of Parkash Badal, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and recently appointed Akal Takht Sahib’s head granthi Gurmukh “Singh” were pasted.

Reacting to SAD’s move of depicting discourtesy towards Justice Ranjit Singh’s investigation report by selling it for Rupees 5/- at a virtual shop in Punjab assembly, the activists of SAD (Amritsar) manifested placards displaying the sale of various SAD (Badal) ranks at a very cheap cost.

Similarly, the AAP activists also burnt an effigy of former CM Parkash Badal in Muktsar on August 29 while blaming him for sacrilege incidents. They also flayed CM Captain Amarinder Singh for not taking immediate action on the basis of the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission’s report.

It has also come to the fore that the Union Minister Harsimrat Badal and her brother Bikram Majithia faced a major embarrassment on August 29 when they couldn’t attend a religious function at village Musse Wala (District: Tarn Taran) fearing of Sikh protesters waiting for them with polythene bags filled with cow dung, black flags and anti-SAD placards.

Sources have informed that the duo brother-sister preferred to step back from Jhabal i.e. 8 Kilometers prior to their destination.
